Go for the new animal habitats, plan around the heat and treat the visit as a test-period outing. Bring water, use the marked route and arrange your return before you arrive.
What is open?
The new site’s Caucasian Fauna exhibition is receiving visitors. The first-phase area is designed around species from the Caucasus and gives the zoo substantially more space than its central-city site. During test operation, visitors must remain on the marked route.
What is not finished?
Construction and landscaping continue. The café and educational centre are not yet complete, and the overall visitor experience may feel more functional than polished. Do not assume there will be the range of shade, food, seating or children’s facilities you would expect from a finished attraction.
Getting there without stress
- Use the end of Khudadov Street and “new Tbilisi Zoo / Caucasian Fauna” as the destination reference; confirm the pin with your driver.
- Because the site is away from the centre, do not depend on finding a taxi waiting outside. Keep mobile data available and arrange the return in the app before your group is tired.
- Allow extra pickup time and carry a backup payment method.
Best plan for families
Aim for the cooler part of the opening window, take drinking water, sun protection and simple snacks, and keep the outing shorter than you might at a finished zoo. Closed shoes are sensible while surrounding works continue. Explain to children in advance that some areas and facilities are still under construction.

- Confirm weather, especially heat or thunderstorms.
