First month in Tbilisi · admin planner

Do the urgent things.
Sequence the rest.

A four-week administration plan for new arrivals—built to prevent a SIM, lease or bank account from being mistaken for tax residence, permission to work or a residence permit.

01

Everyone

Passport/entry evidence, insurance, emergency 112, local connectivity, secure payments and a workable temporary address.

02

Renters

Owner/title check, written lease, payment allocation, inventory, condition record, utilities and address cooperation.

03

Earners/founders

Source-of-funds file, activity classification, tax advice, business structure and the 2026 right-to-work position.

04

Longer stays

Lawful-stay calendar, correct residence basis, document authentication/translation and enough filing time.

Your first-month timeline

A sequence you can adapt.

Not every task applies to every arrival. Do not register a company, tax status or residence route merely because it appears on a generic checklist.

01

Before arrival

Check entry conditions for your passport and purpose; arrange health/accident insurance; preserve originals and scans; bring two payment methods; identify documents that may need Apostille/legalization.

02

First 72 hours

Save 112; obtain a Georgian SIM from an official point; test cards/ATM fees; preserve entry evidence; use temporary accommodation; learn the nearest pharmacy, clinic, metro/bus and safe taxi-app routine.

03

Week 1

Create a local contact sheet; test neighbourhoods and commute; organise medications; confirm insurance claims procedure; start a bank KYC folder with identity, address, work/business and source-of-funds evidence.

04

Week 2

View housing, check the owner and Registry extract, define first rent/deposit/agent fee, review the lease, document condition, meters and keys, and obtain traceable payment evidence.

05

Week 3

If relevant, choose IE versus LLC only after activity/tax analysis; assess VAT, accounting and monthly filings; check whether employment, directorship or self-employment needs right-to-work action.

06

Week 4

Review days of lawful stay, residence route and filing lead time; finish bank onboarding; update emergency/admin records; schedule renewals for SIM, insurance, lease, address and compliance.

Important distinctions

Admin traps to avoid.

One registration does not solve the others

Entry, address, bank, tax, company, right to work and residence are separate legal or administrative questions.

Do not manufacture substance

Use truthful residential and business addresses. A virtual office, lease or utility record must not be presented as something it is not.

Keep a source-of-funds file

Banks may ask how wealth and payments were generated. Retain contracts, invoices, tax returns, statements, sale records and explanatory chronology.

Track dates, not impressions

Record entry, insurance expiry, lease notice, visa/lawful-stay limit, filings and document validity in one calendar.
