Buying IKEA in Georgia: Gorgia stock, catalogue orders and JYSK
Georgia has no official IKEA-operated store, but selected IKEA products are available locally through Gorgia. Here is how to compare in-stock Georgian retail, international ordering and JYSK before a flat-pack bargain becomes an expensive logistics project.
Available locally
Gorgia maintains a dedicated IKEA product catalogue with selected items and live stock.
Other local option
JYSK reports eight Georgian branches plus local online ordering.
Important distinction
Local IKEA products are available, but Georgia still has no official IKEA-operated store or full national catalogue.
Start with IKEA products already stocked by Gorgia
Gorgia’s Georgian online hypermarket has a dedicated IKEA section rather than only an informal catalogue-order page. At our 18 July 2026 check, it showed categories for furniture, kitchens, children’s rooms, bathrooms, décor, home organization, lighting, textiles and outdoor products, with individual items displaying Georgian prices and stock status.
This is the easiest first check because the product is already offered through a Georgian retailer. Availability is selective and changes by item: Gorgia is not a full official IKEA market and does not reproduce the entire international catalogue. Confirm live stock, delivery, assembly, warranty and return conditions on the exact product before paying.
What the absence of an official IKEA store still changes
IKEA says its stores may sell only within the country where they are located and directs customers outside active markets to its International Sales channel. Georgia still does not have an official IKEA-operated local store and complete domestic IKEA catalogue. Products sold through Gorgia or another Georgian retailer should therefore be understood under that retailer’s own sale and after-sales terms.
That distinction matters when something is missing, damaged or unsuitable. Identify the legal seller, keep the Georgian receipt, check who handles a warranty claim and ask whether replacement components can be supplied. For a product not stocked locally, your contract may instead be with an intermediary, the origin-country seller, or both at different stages.
Build an order list that a freight company can price
Do not send screenshots alone. For every item record the product name, IKEA article number, colour or finish, origin-country catalogue link, quantity and current price. Download the assembly instructions and note whether fittings, mattress slats, bulbs, rails or wall fixings are separate products. Catalogue room photographs often contain several independently priced items.
Open “package details” and record the number of packages, dimensions and gross weight. Freight is often driven by volumetric weight rather than the elegant size of the assembled product. A wardrobe or sofa may cross several cartons; one unavailable carton can make the entire set unusable.
Ask for a real landed-cost quote
A useful quote separates purchase price, shopper or procurement fee, collection inside the origin country, international freight, insurance, Georgian customs and taxes where applicable, brokerage, delivery to your building, carrying to the floor and assembly. Ask which charges are estimates and whether exchange-rate movement can change the final bill.
For a large order, photograph stair turns, lift doors and the apartment entrance, and compare them with every package. Clarify whether “delivery” means curbside, lobby or inside the room. Tbilisi’s older buildings, narrow lifts and steep streets can turn the last 30 metres into the most difficult part of the journey.
Returns, damage and electrical products
Agree in writing how damage is recorded: ideally photographs at collection, intact packaging on arrival, inspection before signing and a short claims deadline. Ask whether the provider consolidates cargo and whether replacement parts can be ordered. A cheap table with a damaged top is not cheap if the only remedy is returning a bulky carton abroad.
Be especially cautious with mattresses, upholstered goods and electrical products. Check return exclusions, plug and voltage compatibility, warranty territory and whether a Georgian technician can service the item. Keep the order confirmation, product labels, package count and delivery document until assembly is complete.
Why JYSK deserves a comparison
JYSK is not IKEA, and the designs and ranges should not be presented as identical. It is nevertheless a Scandinavian-rooted home retailer with an established Georgian operation. Its official site says it has eight branches in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi, accepts online orders and delivers throughout Georgia outside the occupied territories.
JYSK states a normal Tbilisi delivery window of five to seven business days, with up to ten business days for furniture and 10–15 business days for regions. Furniture arrives disassembled. Because purchase, payment, domestic delivery and customer service sit in one Georgian channel, price comparison should include the value of easier inspection, returns and replacement—not just the number on the product page.
A sensible furnishing strategy
For a new rental, buy time-sensitive basics locally: mattress, curtains, lighting, desk and storage needed in the first week. Live in the apartment before importing expensive systems. Georgian rooms, heating radiators, wall materials and storage needs may not match the plan you made from abroad.
Reserve international IKEA ordering for distinctive pieces, a coordinated system or a product whose dimensions solve a specific problem. Combine it with local products where they are competitive. The goal is not to reproduce a catalogue spread; it is to create a comfortable home without tying up weeks and money in avoidable freight.
Reader questions
What is confirmed?
Can I buy IKEA products locally in Georgia?
Yes. Gorgia maintains a dedicated Georgian IKEA category with selected in-stock furniture and household products. It is not the complete international IKEA catalogue.
Is there an official IKEA-operated store in Georgia?
No official IKEA-operated Georgian store was identified at our 18 July 2026 review. Selected products are nevertheless sold locally through Gorgia.
Can an independent service order an unavailable IKEA product?
It may, but verify the legal seller, complete landed price, package liability, customs handling and return procedure. Do not assume an intermediary is IKEA-authorized.
Does JYSK deliver in Georgia?
Yes. JYSK Georgia states that it offers delivery throughout Georgia outside the occupied territories, with published Tbilisi and regional delivery windows.
