Mobile, home internet and Starlink in Georgia

Choose a Georgian mobile operator, understand current unlimited packages, activate eSIM and roaming correctly, keep an important number alive, and arrange reliable home internet.

01

Three mobile operators

Compare Magti, Silknet and Cellfie using their official links below. Coverage inside your home, office and usual travel area matters more than a national advertising claim.

02

Current price range

In July 2026, advertised 30-day unlimited-data packages are about 26 GEL on Cellfie and 35 GEL on Magti; full unlimited calls/SMS/data offers are around 39–45 GEL. Silknet also advertises 30-day unlimited products; confirm the displayed checkout price.

03

5G and eSIM

5G is available in Georgia but coverage, device bands and plan access vary. Magti explicitly offers 2G–5G service and Magti, Silknet and Cellfie all publish eSIM options for compatible unlocked devices.

04

Roaming is not automatic

Do not assume a Georgian SIM will roam simply because it works at home. Activate the operator’s roaming service before departure, then separately enable Data Roaming on the phone only when needed.

A practical sequence

What to do,
and in what order.

01

Buy and register safely

Use an official store or operator website, bring your passport, confirm the number is registered in your name and install the operator app. Keep the SIM holder or eSIM details securely.

02

Test before choosing a long package

Make a call and run speed tests inside the actual apartment, workplace, lift lobby and normal route. A 5G icon is less important than stable indoor data and calls.

03

Activate roaming before travel

Magti instructs prepaid users to activate roaming with *133# or MyMagti; Silknet publishes *117# before departure. For Cellfie, activate a roaming offer/service through MyCellfie, its website or the relevant code. Also switch on Data Roaming in the handset when you want mobile data abroad.

04

Protect the number

Check number validity in the operator app and make a small balance refill or chargeable use well before the inactivity deadline. Do this periodically while abroad; receiving an SMS alone may not extend validity. Keep roaming active if the number receives bank or government codes.

05

Arrange home internet

Confirm fibre availability for the exact flat, installation time, router, contract term, cancellation, equipment return and whether an earlier subscriber left debt or equipment.

06

Consider Starlink where fibre is weak

Use Starlink’s official address checker. You need a clear sky view, safe mounting, power and landlord/building permission; confirm the current Georgian equipment and monthly price at checkout.

Details worth saving

Avoid the common
first-month mistakes.

How deactivation normally develops

Prepaid inactivity can first restrict outgoing service, later restrict incoming service and eventually terminate or recycle the number. The timing and the event that resets it—often a qualifying balance refill or paid activity—depend on the operator’s current subscriber terms.

A balance is not always enough

Leaving money sitting on an account may not preserve the number indefinitely. Silknet states that validity is linked to balance refill. Use the app to see the actual validity date and top up before it, not after service disappears.

eSIM is still a real Georgian number

An eSIM replaces the plastic card; calls, SMS, data, registration and roaming rules remain. Cellfie confirms its eSIM works in roaming like a physical SIM. Save recovery information and do not delete the profile casually.

“Unlimited” can have limits

Check high-speed allowance, reduced speed, hotspot/tethering and fair-use conditions. Magti’s 45 GEL Everything Unlimited offer, for example, includes 50,000 MB at high speed before a stated 5 Mbps maximum.

Roaming can be expensive

Activation is not the same as buying a roaming bundle. Check the destination, partner network, incoming-call charges and data allowance. Keep automatic app updates and cloud backup off until the package is confirmed.

Keep a second recovery method

A Georgian number may be tied to banking, RS.ge or other accounts. Add a backup email/authenticator where supported and never let the registered SIM pass to another person.

Fibre usually suits city apartments

Properly installed fibre commonly offers lower latency and simpler equipment in Tbilisi. Starlink is particularly useful for remote locations, backup or homes without good fixed service.

Starlink works in Georgia

Georgia’s Communications Commission records Starlink’s entry into the Georgian market. Price and availability should be checked for the exact service address.
